Despite the hype I was impressed. The flavor is very intense but……great! Many chocolates contain sea salt but the saltiness of this is much, much stronger. The grains are larger but satisfying because they work to contrast the caramel. Indeed per the packaging the grains are black Hawaiian sea salt. The only negative is that the bar is very delicate so breaking off the pre-sliced squares is tricky.
The artwork on the outer box is quite nice. It has an old fashion ship, the sea (from whence the salt came) and a giant swordfish. It certainly connotes fancypants high end, artisan chocolate but only costs $2 which is always a plus. Note that the bar is gluten free. I definitely have future interest in purchasing this chocolate.
