About once a month I pick up homeopathic allergy medicine from Lifethyme Health Market on 6th avenue in Manhattan. The store sells all types of natural, vegan, vegetarian, grass fed meats and organic stuff. All that pure food though doesn’t mean they neglect junk food. You know about the impulse buy section at grocery stores right? Well Lifethyme has that stuff, only natural versions. From Macaroons, chocolates, and candies these jerks are just as guilty. What I gave into this time were the Tree of Life Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were on sale for $3.39 for a 7.25oz box versus the standard range of $5-$7 for most gluten free sweets.
The ToL cookies feature no preservatives and only 8 grams of sugar though each cookie is 100 calories. The box contains 9 decent size cookies. They pass the test of dippability in tea or coffee (my preferred method). They have a decent crunch and very natural crumbliness. It’s discernible that these are GF but they taste quite good. The two flours used are brown rice and soy flour. Note that this product is not vegan. I would definitely buy these cookies again though probably not at the full price of $4.99.
Here by the way is a great list of Gluten Free/Dairy Free Cookies
