Christmas in New York: Bryant Park, Rockefeller Plaza, Macy’s and Minar

As Christmas approaches the season can feel somewhat frenzied. This year though we decided to take an afternoon to just walk around at a nice slow pace. No shopping, just a little time to take in the scenery and of course sample tasty food. The weather was not “frightful” in the the least. In fact it was an unseasonal 60 degrees. Warm enough to linger.

Our first stop was lovely Bryant Park located 40th and 5th avenue. It’s a small park in Mid-town but they pack a lot in including a holiday market with all types of wares. I don’t always buy anything but am sometimes inspired with ideas. They also have free table tennis, juggling lessons, wifi along with skating rink and lots of snack options right now.

The second stop was down to Macy’s to catch the windows. I was glad to see less screens and more of the traditional wooden figures instead.

Is the guy behind the ballerina even with the show? Or just a sleazy guy?

Hungry for lunch we stopped by a personal favorite, Minar (fast food Indian) located at 46th between 6th and 7th. They have many vegetarian options. Satisfaction after a long walk.

Lamb keema, aloo mattar and mustard greens.

The final stop was seeing the tree at Rockefeller and watching the ice skating.
