These were an unexpected find while on a tahini/shea butter run at Fertile Crescent, a middle eastern grocery store near Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn. Gullon is based in Spain and is one of the biggest cookie and biscuit makers in the world. Since GF stuff is so pricey, I was excited to see this for only $3. In addition to being gluten free, it’s also explicitly labeled egg-free and nut-free. The flours are soy and corn.
It doesn’t say so on the box, but the cookies are miniature – just wider than a quarter. The cocoa influences both the flavor and aroma in the best way. They’re crunchy but not brittle, a problem some gluten free cookies have. I highly recommend it for chocolate lovers GF and non. It’s excellent dipped in espresso. They also make gluten free tea time biscuits.
