Affordable cheese alternatives are difficult to find, so when a sale happens, it’s best to stock up. This Go Veggie cheese was on sale for $3 at Lifethyme market. It only seemed logical to make grilled cheese sandwiches to go with split pea soup.
Go Veggie Pepper Jack is lactose free, casein free, soy free and wheat free. Note that the package doesn’t indicate gluten free but it does on the website. The pack contains 10 individually-wrapped slices to the pack. These rice-based slices are a little slimy unwrapped which was a little off-putting at first. The taste though makes up for the texture. It’s like a lighter version of dairy cheese, complete with creaminess and slight pepper kick.
We made gluten free and vegan cheese sandwiches by putting it on Udi’s bread. Go Veggie melts incredibly well compared with other non-dairy cheeses – so if you have a hankering for a gooey grilled cheese, this is a great option. I’d definitely buy this product again when it’s on sale.
I think you make some good points for your case supporting non dairy cheese but I still love real cheese.
Haha I can’t blame you. I’ve always loved cheese for snacking. Thanks for the comment!
