As someone who is lactose intolerant it’s not hard to resist dairy iced coffee. Seeing this RoodonFood friendly version from Almond Breeze was trickier however. Prior to purchase I didn’t know what a macchiato was but it sounded both fancy and tasty. The drink is creamy and colored like chocolate milk but doesn’t weigh you down (100 calories per serving). It also doesn’t have the chalky residue that certain almondmilk brands have. The caramel sweetness lets you know that it’s a treat to be savored, though not daily. The coffee taste reminds me of Kahlua. In fact, this may work well as a vegan friendly substitute to make an Irish Coffee. I’ll followup on that experiment later.
The website indicates that the product is dairy, soy and gluten free. Oddly though, the carton itself doesn’t say gluten free on it. They make four types of ice coffee: Mocha, Vanilla, Original and Caramel Macchiato. Like most non-dairy milk products, it’s fortified with calcium and vitamin D. This was a fantastic coffee drink made better by the fact that it’s RoodonFood, I.e lactose free. Have you tried any of the other flavors?
