Sweet and Sour Pork Chop Recipe

Pork Chops

Inspired by American style Chinese food, this sweet and sour marinade keeps pork moist and flavorful. I did it with pork chops but it can be used with spare ribs or even ground meat. Serve with rice or with mashed potatoes. Don’t forget to garnish with the pineapple chunks and green onions. Pineapple juice is best, but OJ works as a backup option.

Prep Time: 10 minutes active time plus marinading

6 pork chops
½ onion, chopped into strips
¼ cup bell pepper, chopped
Marinade:
2 T ketchup
4 T soy sauce (or tamari)
1 t garlic powder
1 T apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup pineapple juice
salt to taste
pepper to taste
Garnish:
A few ounces pineapple rings or chunks for garnish
green onions for garnish

Method:
Put all marinade ingredients and pork chops into a bowl and mix well. Store in fridge for at least an hour. In a pan, cook onions and bell peppers for 5-7 minutes on medium heat. Remove pork chops from marinade. Add to the pan. Cook each side a couple minutes depending on the thickness of the chops. Flip over once. Cook until 75% done. Now add in the marinade and mix in well. Cook for additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat so pork doesn’t dry out. Garnish with pineapple rings or chunks and green onions.
