Product Review: Bobo’s Oat Bars

Unfortunately, a local natural food store is shutting down for good. The silver lining as a consumer is that I discovered arguably the best impulse buy ever: Bobo’s Oat Bars, at a discount. These 3 ounces bars from Boulder come in a bunch of flavors. I picked up original and peach.

For the first tasting we went to Prospect Park with Dance of Dragons in tow (Oh George you so crazy!) Greedily, I opened the wrapper. The combination of rolled oats and fruit aroma hits your nose. Despite a presumption of dryness because it’s vegan, the bar was moist holding together very well with every bite. The texture is creamy and not surprisingly reminiscent of peaches and cream oatmeal but portable! These bars are perfect before a run or an on the go snack. I’m not ashamed to admit that I went back to the health store the next day and bought 5 more.

Note that all bars are wheat free and vegan. They can’t call them gluten free because those are manufactured in a facility that processes wheat. They do have four flavors which are explicitly gluten free: peach, maple pecan, chocolate almond and lemon poppy. Here is a store locator. Have you tried this product before? I’m eager to check out the Cinnamon Raisin and Poppy Seed.
