Confections of a Rockstar Review (Asbury Park, NJ)

Asbury Park New Jersey’s rock pedigree is well-known, so it’s appropriate that the town that gave us Bruce Springstein among others would have a bakery called Confections of a Rockstar. Co-owned by Kimmee Masi of the band Our Last Sin, it’s a quaint but fun bakery located at 550 Cookman Avenue. Rock Memorabilia adorns the walls. Patrons are free to leave their “autograph” on the rockstar wall of fame.

The display cases are filled with brownies, cookies and some of the most pun-tastic cupcake names ever. Strawberry Fields is a strawberry cupcake with buttercream frosting. Don’t Be Cruel are banana cupcakes with peanut butter frosting topped with honey dipped bacon. My personal favorite name is S’more Than a Feeling which is chocolate cake with graham cracker bottom, topping with marshmallow frosting.

I opted to check out the chocolate chip sandwich cookie. The cookies were unexpectedly chewy and moist. The general vanilla cream filling put it over the top. It’s just as decadent as it looks. Drinking coffee or espresso alongside it is a must. If you’re out for a stroll in resurgent Asbury Park, be sure to stop by.

  1. I haven’t been to Asbury all summer! Glad to know there is a good place to check out.

    • Thanks for the comment. There is also a wacky paranormal bookstore and museum and a nice coffeeshop called America’s cup (among other places) to add to your list. Let me know if you make it out and your thoughts. Cheers.

  2. Yeah, we made it in to this phenomenally fun and should be famous bakeshop….with the most scrumptious unimaginable delights that are so awesome, even I have a hard time describing how creative and delicious their creations are. If you don’t get to go there and sample their better than good goods, my condolences Peeps, because you’d really be missing out on the SPECTACULAR!
